dated July 4, 1959: An outstanding journalist

More messages expressing sorrow over the passing away of Mr. Kasturi Srinivasan, Editor of The Hindu, have been received. Mr. J. R. D. Tata, in a statement says, “On my return from abroad I was grieved to learn of the passing of Mr. Kasturi Srinivasan whose friendship I enjoyed for many years. At a time when India so badly needs men of clear thinking and independent judgment the passing of an editor of the calibre of Mr. Srinivasan is a great misfortune. In him the country has lost not only an outstanding newspaperman in the finest tradition of journalism who built up The Hindu into a leading and most respected English language daily, but also a citizen, who, in a long and distinguished career, had done much to keep high the name and prestige of his country.”
