CHICKABALLAPUR: Minister for Minorities Welfare, Wakf and Haj Mumtaz Ali Khan has said that 117 km of rural roads in Chickaballapur district will be developed at a cost of Rs. 31.92 crore under the Prime Minister’s Grameen Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). Inaugurating the Executive Engineer’s office of the Karnataka Rural Roads Development Agency (KRRDA) here, Mr. Khan said 14 roadworks had been sanctioned for Chickaballapur district under the PMGSY. Development of rural roads would get impetus with the establishment of the technical division and executive engineer’s office of the KRRDA in Chickaballapur, the Minister said. Mr. Khan, who is the Chickaballapur district in-charge minister, said that Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa would lay the foundation stone for the proposed district office complex here in September. After discussing the project with MLAs from the district and senior officials here on Wednesday, the Minister said the Government had sanctioned Rs. 20 crore for the district office complex and Rs. 5 crore for staff quarters.
