Eco-tourism monsoon packages at Parambikulam

Staff Reporter

It is aimed at attracting nature lovers and tourists

25 per cent discount being offered

Pollachi: The Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary of Kerala abutting the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve near Pollachi has unveiled a slew of eco-tourism monsoon packages to attract nature lovers and tourists.

Talking to ‘The Hindu’, Wildlife Warden Sanjayan Kumar said that the sanctuary was at its best during the monsoon.

The sanctuary was one of the best protected forest covers in the country and had rich floristic and fauna wealth besides mind-blowing landscapes, lush green mountains, reservoirs and dams.

The other tourist attractions would include kannimara teak, Cheetals, Gaurs, Sambar Deer, elephants etc.

The sanctuary shot into limelight because of the successful implementation of eco tourism initiatives through Eco Development Committees involving the tribals living in the hamlets in the sanctuary. The participatory forest management and regulated tourism besides providing employment and earning scope for the tribals had also helped in protecting the forest cover. To encourage the visitors to learn and enjoy Parambikulam during monsoon, the committees were now offering 25 per cent off on the tariffs on all eco-tourism packages.

The packages included popular tented Niche, Island Nest, Thellikal Nights, Peep through watch towers, Machan world and tramway trek.

The concession in tariff was available on all packages excepting the department-run safari buses fare. Those interested could contact the following numbers open round-the-clock: Eco Care Centre – 09442201690 or 04253-245025 or could email to wildlifewarden@

parambikulam.org.
