Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Minister for Horticulture and Prisons Umesh Katti on Friday said a decision has been taken to totally restructure the Horticulture Department to reduce the administration cost as well as to bring in transparency in the administration.

Addressing presspersons, he said after the Education Department, the Horticulture Department would introduce counselling for transfers of officials and the process would be completed by July-end.

However, employees would be transferred to places of their choice if they were suffering from major health problems. The seniority criteria and couple employees would also be taken into consideration while transferring employees. There are 3,594 employees in the department against sanctioned 5,370 posts, he said.

All taluks have been divided into A, B, C categories based on cultivation of horticultural crops and production.
