Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has granted conditional bail to a U.S. national who was arrested here for allegedly possessing a pistol and live ammunition without a licence.

Larry Sellimeyer has been accused of an offence punishable under the Arms Act. The pistol and the ammunition manufactured in Austria were found in his baggage.

In his order, Justice M. Jeyapaul said the fact remained that the petitioner had come here for treatment. The hospital certificate showed that he had undergone hip surgery in May. He had not committed any offence.

Mr. Justice Jeyapaul said that the petitioner would be released on executing a bond for Rs.10,000 and two sureties for a like sum each to the satisfaction of the Judicial Magistrate, Alandur. He should report to the Airport Police Station every Monday, surrender his passport and travel documents and furnish his address in Chennai.
