Passing out parade held

KRISHNAGIRI: The passing out parade of 141 police recruits was held at the District Sports Stadium here on Friday.
S. Rajendran, Inspector General of Police, Economic Offences Wing, inspected the parade and gave medals to the winners in three categories.
Of the 141 new recruits, 55 were from Krishnagiri district and the rest from Salem district.
V. Jagannathan, Chief Law Inspector, told The Hindu that the training began here on March 1 at a temporary training college at the Institute of Rural Development, near KRP dam. Recruits were trained by specialist cops from the police force in law, parade, shooting and other regular exercises.
In shooting, P. Kumar bagged the first prize, D. Sivasakthi in law and M. Surendran in parade.
After the passing out parade, 50 personnel would be deployed in Vellore, 50 in Krishnagiri and 41 in Coimbatore for practical training.
After the training period, they would be absorbed in the Seventh Battalion in Pochampalli.
Ms. Anisha Hussein was the Principal of the temporary training school and N.T. Ramesh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, was the Vice-Principal.
