First anniversary of Circuit Bench

Saplings to be planted to mark the occasion

Bench disposes of 9,710 cases in the first year


DHARWAD: “Planting of millions of saplings” will mark the first anniversary of the Circuit Bench of the High Court of Karnataka here on Saturday.

Union Minister for Law and Justice M. Veerappa Moily, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and Chief Justice of the High Court of Karnataka P.D. Dinakaran will participate in the function.

Demand

The Circuit Bench, a long-pending demand of the people of the region, was fulfilled on July 4, 2008.

A large number of people from various districts in north Karnataka attended the function to inaugurate the Circuit Bench at the Water and Land Management Institute near Dharwad.

Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan formally inaugurated the Circuit Bench. Of the 17,673 cases filed before the Circuit Bench, 9,710 have been disposed of.
