Railway table tennis championship begins

Symbolic: General Manager of SWR Kuldeep Chaturvedi inaugurating the 57th All-India Railway Table Tennis Championship in Hubli on Friday.

HUBLI: General Manager of South Western Railway Kuldeep Chaturvedi inaugurated the 57th All-India Railway Table Tennis Championship 2009 at the Chalukya Railway Institute here on Friday.

As many as 150 players from 16 railway zones and production units in the country are participating in the championship.

Speaking after inaugurating the championship, Mr. Chaturvedi said that it was the second mega event hosted by SWR after the all India railway championship in 2008.

Sportsmanship

He stressed the need for developing true sportsmanship.

Sanjeev Handa, president of SWR Sports Association (SWRSA) and Chief Mechanical Engineer, SWR, spoke.

Senior railway officials S.K. Gupta, U. Krishna Murthy, Vijay Agarwal, Adesh Sharma, S.K. Behera, Braj Mohan, Naveen Tandon, S. Manohar, and Prem Chand were present.
