HASSAN: A portion of the Government Model Higher Primary School building in Katehalli near here collapsed on Friday. Fortunately, the classrooms that were damaged were not in use for the past few months as the walls had developed cracks. School headmistress H.N. Susheela told presspersons who visited the school that the student strength was 175. She said that fearing collapse of the two classrooms, she had complained to the Block Education Officer, who allowed her to relocate the students to other rooms. Now they were conducting classes in six classrooms, but four more were needed. There were no casualties. According to residents, the school was constructed by the Nirmithi Kendra in 1998 and the quality of work was substandard.
