‘People with ideas are preferred’

Staff Correspondent

Manipal: Managing Director of Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. (MRPL) U.K. Basu said on Friday that the industry encouraged people with innovative approach. He was speaking as the chief guest at the induction programme of the 11th batch (2009-11) students of the Post Graduate Progamme Programme of T.A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) here.

Mr. Basu said that innovation came from one’s knowledge and attitude. The challenge was how these ideas could be developed into a practical programme benefiting the company. Companies with large turnovers could not afford to make mistakes. The Government did not like public sector units to make mistakes. A small mistake could lead to loss in crores of rupees.

Director of the institute Saji Gopinath welcomed the gathering. Administrative officer of the Academy of General Education H. Shantharam was present.
