TIRUNELVELI: ‘Saaral Vizhaa 2009’ celebrations will be held at Courtallam in the last week of July, Collector M. Jayaraman has informed. Chairing a meeting at Courtallam on Wednesday, Mr. Jayaraman said that a range of development works at a cost of Rs.4.50 crore had been carried out for the benefit of the tourists. Police personnel would be on duty round-the-clock in all waterfalls and surveillance cameras fitted near all falls to monitor the movement of antisocial elements and curb crimes. Medical assistance would be made available at important points till the end of the season. Plastic waste would be collected and removed then and there,. He instructed the officials to ensure better sanitary condition in and around Courtallam. District Revenue Officer P. Ramana Saraswathi, Project Officer, District Rural Development Agency P. Veeranan, District Public Relations Officer U. Ravindran, District Social Welfare Officer V. Uma Devi, Project Officer, Integrated Child Development Scheme Devikumari, Executive Officer of Courtallam town panchayat Balasubramanian participated in the meeting. Earlier, Mr. Jayaraman visited Old Falls and Main Falls in the morning. He interacted with the tourists and received their suggestions and complaints.
