TIRUCHI: The house surgeons and non-service post-graduate students of K.A. P. Viswanatham Government Medical College continued their stir for the second day on Thursday demanding a hike in their stipend. They staged a demonstration in front of the college on Thursday morning. The Tamil Nadu Medical and Dental non service post-graduate and Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship Association, which called the stir, demanded that the stipend for house surgeons be increased from Rs.4,500 to Rs.12,000. For non service Post-graduates, it demanded the increase from Rs.8,000 to Rs.25,000 besides a weekly off. The college hostel was ordered closed.
