KOLKATA: Unseeded S. Praveena of Tamil Nadu continued her dream run as she reached the final beating second-seeded Abhilipsa Rath of Orissa in the under-12 girls’ singles semifinals of the Calcutta Punjab Club AITA Talent Series on Thursday. In the final Praveena will take on top-seeded Shreya Das of Bengal. The boys’under-12 category too saw the exit of the second seed Abhilash Mishra of Orissa who was shown the door by unseeded Subhankar Paul of Assam. Paul will take on top-eeded Rishabh Saha of Bengal, who beat Statemate Vikash Singh in the semifinals, in the final on Friday. Top-seeded Shukrit Guha, second seeded Sattwik Sinha Roy, fourth seeded Harsh Gurnani and Yuvraj Bains entered the semifinals of the under-16 boys’ singles event. The results: Boys singles U-12 (semifinals): Rishabh Shah bt Vikash Singh 4-2, 4-2; Subhankar Paul bt Abhilash Mishra 1-4, 4-1, 4-1. Girls singles U-12 (semifinals): Shreya Das bt Protiksha Sharma 4-2, 4-1; S. Praveena bt Abhilipsa Rath 4-2, 4-1. Boys singles U-16 (quarterfinals): Shukrit Guha bt Richie Agarwal 4-2, 4-2; Yuvraj Bains bt Md. Shaharyar Salim 5-3, 4-2; Harsh Gurnani bt Siddharth Anand 2-4, 5-4(4), 4-1; Sattwik Sinha Ray bt Subho Halder 4-2, 5-3. Ishika wins titleUnseeded Ishika Gupta upset second-seeded Megha Roy to win the under-10 girls’ singles title of the Calcutta Punjab Club BTA junior tennis championship on Thursday. Fourth-seeded Vikash Singh claimed the title in the under-10 boys’ singles category beating third-seeded Akshat Agarwal in the final.
