JOA office-bearers re-elected

KOLKATA: The three office-bearers of the Jharkhand Olympic Association with R.K. Anand as president were unanimously re-elected at the annual general meeting near Dhanbad on Thursday.

Besides, Anand, S.M. Hashmi and Madhukant Pathak retained the posts of secretary-general and treasurer of the JOA respectively.

The election was held in the presence of Indian Olympic Association appointed observers S.M. Bali and Gurdeep Singh.

The meeting also authorised the president to nominate the rest of the team.

Meanwhile, Amitabha Choudhary, an IPS officer and president of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association, who was aiming to contest against Mr. Anand, alleged that many voters were not allowed to attend the meeting. He also said a number of valid voters were rejected.

However, Mr. Anand contended that voters from all defaulting units were not allowed to participate as per the Constitution. — Special Correspondent
