Bhaskar in fine form

BANGALORE: B. Bhaskar has been in awesome form in the 40th State ranking senior billiards tournament. At the KSBA hall here, the former champion blanked Ajay Bhushan and then young Mundir Sherazi, with an unfinished 150 in the third frame, to storm into the quarterfinals. Bhaskar thumped Sherazi 152-12, 151-120, 150-0.

Southpaw D. Raj Kumar caused a few ripples with a hard fought 151-65, 92-151, 152-149, 108-151, 151-121win over seasoned campaigner B.V.S. Murthy.

C. Ravindranath and M.S. Arun are the two qualifiers who have progressed into the round of eight.

Badminton tourney for physically challenged

The National badminton championship for the physically challenged will be conducted from July 3 to 5 at the Malleswaram Association courts by the Badminton Sports Association of India for Challenged.

Several players who have won laurels for the country at the World championship (2007) and Asian Paralympic Cup (2008), like the World No.1 Parul D. Parmar of Gujarat, will participate.

The tournament will considered as a selection trials for the World championship for the disabled, scheduled to be held in South Korea in September.
