Bangalore: West secured a crucial 47-run first innings lead over North in the Col. Hemu Adhikari Memorial Trophy NCA inter-academy under-19 cricket tournament final at the Chinnaswamy Stadium here on Thursday. At close on the third day, West extended its overall lead to 202 after scoring 155 for five in its second innings with Nikunj Mohite remaining unbeaten on 62. Earlier, North scored 224 in its first innings as Preet Kamal chipped in with a 91, while Jaydev Unadkat bagged five wickets. Meanwhile, All India University XI (AIU) bagged the third spot defeating Central by 308 runs. The scores: Final: West 271 in 104 overs and 155 for five in 66 overs (Nikunj Mohite 62 n.o., Manprit Juneja 28) vs North 224 in 94.5 overs (Preet Kamal 91, Gurinder Singh 28, Jaydev Unadkat five for 70). Third place: AIU 228 in 68.3 overs and 361 in 90.1 overs (Bravish Shetty 112, Danny Prince 89, Suvojit Banerjee 71, Ashwin Kumar 34, Gagandeep five for 135, Md.
