CHENNAI: Defiance Tech Pvt. Ltd., an engineering services provider and a part of the Hinduja Group, has decided to expand its business operations beyond design and engineering to digital manufacturing and enterprise solutions.

Addressing select group of journalists, V. Sumantran, Chairman, Defiance Tech, and Executive Vice-Chairman, Hinduja Automotive Ltd., said Defiance Tech would be able to provide best technology excellence to any automotive engineering. He said since there had been a growth in engineering solutions, vehicle testing, prototypes and validation, Defiance Tech would be in a position to provide world-class technology solution to its customers.

Mr. Sumantran said the company was also looking at the vertical growth path, wherein it would expand beyond engineering and provide end-to-end solutions to its customers. He also said that this business would be run by the Chief Executive Officer, Subu D. Subramanian, who was earlier with Satyam.

Mr. Sumantran said at present the company was offering two solutions — product testing and validation services and design and engineering services. With the expansion, it planned to include enterprise solutions and digital manufacturing services. Similarly, the company was offering services for the automotive sector now. It would expand its offerings to sectors such as defence, aerospace, industrial hi-tech and general manufacture. Though currently focussed on India and the U.S., the company would now train its efforts to break into Europe, Middle East and APAC regions.

Independent entity

Mr. Subramanian said this business would work as an independent entity. At present, it had 120 customers. Out of which around 25 were from India. As far as the operating solutions were concerned, he said that a global sales force would be created in the U.S., Europe and other places, which would interact with customers across the world. This team would deal with customers in product testing, engineering and manufacturing services.

On the service focus, Mr. Subramanian said Defiance would club the strong capabilities in the engineering, manufacturing and enterprise solutions with the special focus on the interface solutions across the three domains. Each domain offered various solutions which would be interfaced and cross-sold.

He said the company would offer solutions which were cost-competitive. While doing so, it would offer a blended model. At present, Defiance had a testing centre in the U.S. and another would come up in Chennai. The total headcount of the company was around 1,000. Of which, 250 were in the U.S.
