Kavveri Telecom buys majority stake in Canadian co

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Kavveri Telecom Products has acquired a Canadian design and development company based in Montreal for an undisclosed amount. Kavveri now has a 67 per cent stake in Trackcom Systems International and would increase its equity in the coming years, Managing Director Shivakumar Reddy told reporters here on Thursday.

Trackcom undertakes design work related to defence, electronic warfare and aerospace areas which Kavveri will now enter, Mr. Reddy said. “Most telecom equipment related to defence are now bought by India from the U.S. or Israel. With the ‘offset’ scheme in defence procurements, an Indian company can offer relevant products,” he said.

In recent years, Kavveri Telecom acquired three companies in Canada and the Ireland-based subsidiary of a U.S. company, investing about $13 million. Kavveri specialises in manufacturing antennas and radio frequency products for the wireless industry.
