Heavy rain in Uttara Kannada

Correspondent

Karwar: The monsoon became stronger in Uttara Kannada district. Heavy rains lashed Karwar, Ankola, Kumta, Honnavar and Bhatkal taluks in the last two days. There has been incessant rain in Karwar since Wednesday night causing floods in some areas.

The rain in the upper ghat area would help in hydel power generation.

Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd. had said that if it did not rain for some more days, power generation in Supa, Kodasalli, Kadra and Ambikanagar dams would be stopped. Now, there was hope that the rain would solve this problem at least for the time being.
