BHUBANESWAR: Bahuda Yatra, the return journey of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra from Gundicha temple to Sri Jagannath temple, passed off peacefully in Puri on Thursday. Over six lakh devotees gathered on the three-km-long Grand Road, the venue of the yatra, and pulled the chariots. ArrangementsAdequate security arrangements and traffic regulations were made for the smooth conduct of the festival. The deities went to their aunt’s home, Gundicha temple, on the Rath Yatra day on June 24. Earlier in the day, a series of rituals were performed at Gundicha temple before the deities were brought to their respective chariots in traditional style. All the rituals attached to the yatra were conducted in time and the three deities reached outside the main gate of Sri Jagannath temple before sunset. After the three chariots reached near the main temple, the Laxmi Narayan Bheta, meeting of Lord Jagannath and goddess, was conducted as per the custom. The deities would remain on their chariots till Sunday when they will be taken inside their temple in a procession. The Bahuda Yatra of Lord Jagannath was held at the Lord Jagannath temples in different parts of the State. In Bhubaneswar, the yatra was held at the ISKCON temple and the Jagannath temple at KIIT University with great enthusiasm and religious fervour.
