Mamata urged to develop Cuttack station

Correspondent

CUTTACK: The Cuttack Chamber of Commerce has urged Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee to ensure that at least 11 trains (both passenger and express) which are now being diverted through Naraj railway tracks should pass through Cuttack railway station.

In a memorandum to the Railway Minister, CCC president B.K. Mohanty has urged the latter to take adequate measures so as to convert the Cuttack railway station into a model one in the country. “In view of the business potential of the city, the local railway station has to be modernised,” Mr. Mohanty said.

He said the earnings from Cuttack railway station were much better in comparison to other railway stations of the State. Moreover, Cuttack, the old capital of the State, is now considered as the main business centre. Apart from being education hub, the city houses several important State and Central government establishments, he said.
