BANGALORE: Do you fancy lending a new look to your house with some tribal artefacts? Head straight to Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat where a tribal mela-cum-sale has been organised by Gurjari, the outlet of Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation Ltd. (GSHHDCL).

Thousands of artisans and weavers located in remote parts of Gujarat are covered under its various schemes of training and design development.

These artisans belong to a non-farming sector of the economy. The organisation generates sustainable employment opportunities and income generation for these artisans.

A significant number of the artisans are from the Kutch region, which is drought-prone. The corporation helps the artisans in times of natural calamities. It also provides the weavers technical assistance, information regarding novel design and colour combinations and good quality of raw materials, so that they can produce quality finished goods.

Gurjari’s collections go beyond being mere handicrafts; they are symbols of Gujarat’s timeless heritage. So be it lacquered furniture, embroidered bags or beaded jewellery that you seek, check out the sale which is on till July 12. There is a 10 per cent discount that you can avail.
