Seeking justice: Employees of the Bangalore Turf Club staging a protest in Bangalore on Wednesday. BANGALORE: The employees’ representative on the Regional Board of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), N. Krishnachari, on Wednesday accused the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) management of cheating about 2,000 employees by not extending any social security benefits, such as provident fund to the tune of about Rs. 300 crore, ever since the inception of club 56 years ago. Addressing presspersons here, Mr. Krishnachari demanded a CBI probe into it. He alleged that the club management had denied the benefits to the employees by colluding with the State and Central officers of the ESIC. He urged Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa to write to the Centre seeking such a probe. He also charged the BTC with not paying even minimum wages to its employees. He said the employees would take up the matter of denial of benefits with the Union Government if the State Government did not act. HurryReferring to the State Government’s decision to shift the racecourse to the outskirts of the city, Mr. Krishnachari said the employees’ association may have to consider taking legal recourse if any attempt was made to shift it in a hurry. However, the employees did not have any objection to the shifting of the racecourse in a planned manner, he said and demanded that the social security dues of employees should be settled before the shifting took place.
