HYDERABAD: While noted bridge expert Mahesh Tandon is studying the design plan of Greenlands flyover to remove the existing central median, GHMC has meanwhile taken up work to fill up ‘gap’ between the old and the new flyovers.

In the last few days or rather nights, engineers have been on the task to bridge the gap of 25 mm to 45 mm gap between the flyovers by welding the rubber plate and grooves to take care of any expansions. “It is a highly technical work and needs careful handling. We have to ensure the material stays on and does not get worn off,” explained Engineering-in-Chief P. Panduranga Rao.

Vehicular traffic is considerably slowing down once again on the busy road as a result of the work which is mostly being done during nightfall.

The old flyover was constructed in the 80s while the new one has been brought into full shape a year ago.

Stup Consultants had prepared the design for the current work and it is likely to go on for another 15 days at least as the gap is about 150 metres length and so far work has been done for 60 metres, according to Dr. Rao.
