BANGALORE: A 20-year-old student of B.Sc. (Agriculture) committed suicide on Wednesday on the GKVK campus fearing action to debar him from writing examination. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Basavaraj Malagatti, J.K. Ramesh, a resident of Magadi Road, was under suspension for misconduct for the last one month. Two days ago, he had come to meet his friends in the Agriculture College hostel on the GKVK campus. Photographs of him consuming alcohol with his friends reached the Dean of the college. The Dean referred the case to the Disciplinary Committee for action. On Wednesday, Ramesh met the Dean and asked his permission him to write the B. Sc. (Agri) third year examinations. ’ When the Dean refused, Ramesh came out and consumed poison. Students rushed Ramesh to a hospital, where he was declared dead, Mr. Malagatti said. The Yelahanka police have registered a case. Campus closedFollowing the incident, the Agriculture College decided to close the GKVK campus till July 7 and inquire into the incident.
