Girl found dead

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The body of a 19-year-old girl was found on an open ground at Avadi on Tuesday.

According to the police, the body was found behind a pile of bricks near a temple at Arikambedu. It was shifted to Kilpauk Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.

Sankaran of Sharma Nagar in Vyasarpadi identified the girl as his daughter Radha. Local residents told police that they had seen a car parked in the area for long. The police suspect that the girl could have been murdered.

Wife killed

In another case, a man allegedly killed his wife after a heated argument at their house in Tsunami Nagar, Semmancheri, on Tuesday night.

The police said Annamalai (40), a construction worker, had quarrelled with his wife Geetha (31) over a petty issue. He roughed up his wife who raised an alarm and fell unconscious.

The accused, who was in an inebriated condition, fled the scene on seeing neighbours rushing to his house.

Geetha was declared dead at the Government Royapettah Hospital.

A special team has been formed to apprehend Annamalai.

The Thoraipakkam police have registered a case.
