Protest: House Surgeons and Non Service PG medical students observing a fast in Tiruchi on Wednesday.

TIRUCHI: Over 100 House Surgeons and Non Service Post Graduate students of K.A.P. Viswanatham Government Medical College, Tiruchi, observed day-long hunger fast here on Wednesday demanding an increase in the stipend.

The Tamil Nadu Medical and Dental Non Service Post Graduate and Compulsory Rotatory Residential Internship Association had called for the protest. They demanded to increase the stipend for House Surgeons from Rs.4,500 to Rs.12,000 and for Non Service Post Graduates from Rs.8,000 to Rs.25,000, and a weekly off.
