Dies in hit-and-run case

VIJAYAWADA: In a hit-and-run case, a 30-year-old man died on the spot near the flower market adjacent to the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation office in the early hours of Wednesday.

The Krishnalanka police identified the victim as Adapa Srihari Rao, a resident of Bala Nagar in Hyderabad. The police said Rao went to Tirupati alone and in the return journey halted in the city to visit Kanakadurga temple. He was going to the temple from the Pandit Nehru Bus Station on foot in the early hours of the day. As the passers-by found the body of Rao in a pool of blood, the police suspected that he might have been hit by a vehicle. A case was registered.

Electrocuted

Padala Venkata Rao, 25, a resident of Ramalingeswara Nagar, died in a freak accident at Yanamalakuduru on Wednesday. He was working as labourer at the site of the second bridge being constructed at Yanamalakuduru. While working on the site, Rao fell down on a motor and was electrocuted. A case was registered.
