Remember the time: A clay sculpture made as a tribute to Michael Jackson, in Manipal. Manipal: The Manipal Sand Heart Team made a clay sculpture as a tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, at the KMC Greens here on Wednesday. The team of Srinath Manipal, Venki Palimaru and Ravi Hirebettu began work at 9 a.m. and completed it at 3 p.m. Mr. Manipal said that “Heal the World” was one of Michael Jackson’s most famous songs, which dealt with the plight of children. “In the sculpture, we have shown Jackson merged into a tree, symbolic of his ‘reunion with nature’ after death. A person is also seen stretching his hands out towards the sky, at the top of the tree, symbolic of the universal appeal of Jackson’s music,” he added. Below the tree are engraved the words “Heal the world”. “We have engraved these words as July 1 is Doctors’ Day. This message given by Jackson has great significance on this occasion,” he added. The sculpture will be on display on Thursday too.
