Bus owners demand increase in fares

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: The district unit of the Kerala Bus Transport Association has demanded that with the diesel price hike, the bus charges should be reverted to the old price before the fuel price went down some time ago.

Though the increase is Rs. 2 a litre while the decrease in price was only Rs. 1.50 on a litre, the association is only asking for maintaining the status quo of the bus charge as before.

The district general secretary of the association, P. K. Nandan, said that another demand is to increase the students’ concession by 50 per cent.

The increasing fuel price has serious affected those in the bus transport business, he said.
