People in forest areas to get jobs under NREGP

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuram: Forest Minister Benoy Viswom has said that the construction of the footbridge from Pantha to Plamoodu in the Neyyar wildlife sanctuary will be completed soon.

He was speaking at a function here to inaugurate the Kottoor-Balippara-Chennampara road and launch the National Rural Employment Guarantee Programme (NREGP) in the forest areas of the district on Wednesday.

Mr. Viswom said the construction of the collection centre for forest resources at Kottoor would be completed by December this year.

Mr. Viswom said the department would ensure facilities for the tribal market at Kottoor and equip eco-development committees to market agricultural produce. Moves were on to bring Chonampara, Kallar and Peppara into the electricity network.

Mr. Viswom said all people in the forest areas would be provided jobs under the NREGP.
