Small wonder: A miniature Bible printed in Scotland on display at a book fair in Wesley Church. -

Hyderabad: It’s little smaller than a matchbox, but contains important lessons of life. One might have come across bibles of different sizes, but a miniature bible exhibited at the Hyderabad Christian Book Fair in Wesley CSI Church, is one of its kind.

Being one of the old exhibits in the book exhibition being organised by STL OM Books India and International Bible Society, the holy book draws inquisitive stares from visitors.

Perched on a small wooden lectern and locked in a glass box, the miniature bible was printed in 1901 at Glasgow, Scotland. But this is not all. If you thought the miniature bible was the smallest, then the ‘Slide Bible’ which contains a reproduction of 1245 pages of the holy book on one small slide, is bound to surprise you. The slide bible was made by the Research and Development staff of the NCR Corporation at Dayton, Ohio of U.S.A., and contains all 66 books of the Old and New Testaments!

“The miniature bible weighs about 10 grams and one needs a magnifier to read it. But the font size in the slide Bible is so tiny, that it can re read only through a microscope,” says Praveen Kumar, one of the co-ordinators of the book fair.

Other bibles at the exhibition include a 134-year-old bible, which was printed in London. Weighing seven kilos, it is believed to be one of the heaviest bibles. The book fair will be on till July 8 .
