Scholarships for higher education

CHENNAI: The Sitaram Jindal Foundation will offer scholarships on “merit-cum-means” basis to students pursuing higher education.

A press release issued by the Foundation said the scholarships would be available to poor and lower income group students and meritorious students studying in government, government-aided and reputed private educational institutions.

Girl students of below poverty line (BPL) families studying in Class IX to Class XII government and government-aided schools with 60 per cent and above marks; ITI students in government or private institutions who are in a course of at least one year duration; and students of graduate and postgraduate courses (except engineering, medical and other professional courses) who have secured 60 per cent and above marks would be eligible.

Priority would be given to physically challenged or handicapped students, widows and unmarried wards of ex-servicemen, the release said.

The forms could be downloaded from the website www.srjf.org Alternatively, students could seek the application form by giving details of parents’ income, class studying in and percentage of marks obtained, from the Secretary, Sitaram Jindal Foundation, Jindal Nagar, Tumkur Road, Bangalore 560073.
