Pro-people budget promised

K.Balchand

NEW DELHI: Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday promised to present a pro-people Railway Budget in Parliament on July 3.

During a brief interaction session with journalists after an all-party meeting chaired by Speaker Meira Kumar, the Railway Minister said the Railway Budget would be a simple budget benefiting the common man.

Ms. Banerjee stressed that the process of preparation had to be rushed through for want of time in view of the Constitutional deadline and hence kept as simple as possible. She added that the Railway Budget would be in tune with the current economic situation .

She made the same clear to her party MPs even as she admitted high public expectations from the Ministry.
