Working for power-surplus Delhi: CM

NEW DELHI: Describing the increasing demand for power in the Capital as indicative of its development over the years, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday said work is under way to make Delhi a power-surplus State.
Ms. Dikshit was speaking at the seventh Foundation Day of the government-owned power sector companies -- Delhi Transco Limited, Indraprastha Power Generation Company Limited and Delhi Power Company Limited. The chairman of these companies, Rajendra Kumar, spoke about new initiatives being taken to strengthen them.
Sports and cultural events were organised to mark the day. The Raj Ghat Power Station was adjudged the best run power station. A 220-kV sub-station at Park Street and a 220-kV sub-station in Rohini were adjudged the best maintained sub-stations.
