NEW DELHI: Grandmaster P. Magesh Chandran and top seed Matthieu Cornette of France drew their sixth round game to continue sharing the lead at 5.5 points in the Montcada International Open chess tournament at Montcada, Spain, on Tuesday. On a day when the top five boards ended in draws, International Master Tania Sachdev (4.5 points) held eighth seeded Cuban GM Quintana Omar Almeida to share the fourth spot. S. Kidambi kept pace with Tania by playing out a draw with Spain’s Gargatagli Hipolit Asis. Second seed Arun Prasad stayed on course of recovery when he defeated local rival Jordi Herms to reach four points. The results (involving Indians): Sixth round: P. Magesh Chandran (5.5) drew with Matthieu Cornette (Fra, 5.5); Quintana Omar Almeida (Cub, 4.5) drew with Tania Sachdev (4.5); S. Kidambi (4.5) drew with Gargatagli Hipolit Asis (Esp, 4.5); S. Arun Prasad (4) bt Jordi Herms (Esp, 3).
