Railway TT championships from tomorrow

BANGALORE: South Western Railway will conduct the 57th All India Railway table tennis championship from July 3 to 7 at the newly-built Chalukya Institute in Hubli.

The event will feature 100 men and 40 women players from all units of Indian Railways. The championship will include both team and individual events. The tournament returns to Hubli after 30 years. The team event are scheduled from July 3 to 5 and the individual event will be held from July 5 to 7.

The leading players among men are Sourav Chakroborty (Eastern Railway), Anirban Nandi (SER), Arpit Bhopalkar (WR), Soumyajit Sarkar (SER), Anirban Roychowdhary (SWR) and Sayan Paul Roy (ER).

The top women players, who are in the fray, are Prajakta Tiple(WR) , Anindita Chakroborty (SER), Soumi Mondal (SER), Runa Roy(SER), Mansi Bhagwat (WR) and Sumana Bose (ER).

Host SWR is being represented by Anirban Roy Chowdhary, Jaydip Das, Sagayaraj, Adarsh and Siladitya Nag. Bona Thomas John, former international, will coach the team.
