Don’t shift tribals for setting up snake park: Rythu Coolie Sangam

Staff Reporter

Hyderabad: The Rythu Coolie Sangam has demanded the Government to withdraw its plans of shifting tribals from Naggula area of Makkuva mandal in Vizianagaram district for setting up the Nagula Snake Park.

The tribals have been living in the area for ages and played a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance, it said and advised the Government to conceive plans which aid in welfare of tribes and protection of flora and fauna.

The State President of the organisation, S. Jhansi, in a statement issued on Wednesday wanted the State to avoid taking up any plans which would have an adverse impact on their lifestyle.

She claimed that residents of Makkuva mandal were suffering from Malaria and there was a need to establish health centres at the gram panchayats in all tribal agencies besides providing safe drinking water and better health care. The government could take up construction of a mini reservoir at Surapadu to provide water to over 5,000 acres of land belonging to the tribals. She further demanded the police to withdraw all “false” cases filed against the organisation leaders.
