Unaccounted cash seized from sub-treasury

HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) staff of Vijayawda on Tuesday evening seized unaccounted cash of Rs.15,100 from the Mylavaram sub-treasury office, in Krishna district, after conducting a surprise check following credible information that the staff was collecting bribes.

A press release issued by ACB here on Wednesday said the amount was recovered from N. Phani Koteswara Sarma, STO and his staff.

Allegation

V. Bhaskar Babu, a lab technician, in Kondapalli Primary Health Centre, confirmed that Rs.12,500, found in possession of STO, was the bribe given by him through M. Ramesh, health supervisor, Ibrahimpatnam, for clearing his arrears bill of Rs.95,875. The bill was passed on June 29.

Some employees of the Medical and Health department in Ibrahimpatnam, G. Konduru, Mylavaram narrated a few more incidents of acceptance of bribes by STO and his staff through Ramesh, who acts as a middleman. Enquiry is on.
