‘Efforts aimed at helping farmers in dry land areas get assured annual income’ Farmers stand to benefit even in terms of appreciation of value of the land: Nagender
TAKING STOCK: Health Minister Danam Nagender interacting with patients at the RIMS in Adilabad on Wednesday. ADILABAD: Health Minister and Adilabad district in charge Danam Nagender on Wednesday sought to dispel doubts over the proposed cooperative farming in the State. He said the concept was meant for implementation in dry land areas only to provide farmers with an assured annual income. Farmers stand to benefit even in terms of appreciation of value of the land that comes as their contribution in the cooperative, the Minister said. “If under unavoidable circumstances a farmer decides to quit the cooperative, he will be paid the market value of his share of land,” he added. Mr. Nagender addressed a press conference during his first visit to Adilabad after taking charge of the district. He also chaired a meeting of party workers and inspected the local Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and inaugurated an urban health centre at Shantinagar. Bogus ration cardsTalking about weeding out of bogus ration cards, the Minister assured that no eligible person would be made to suffer during the weeding out operations. “The opposition parties should wait until the weeding out operations are over if they want to point out any discrimination,” he suggested. With several party workers complaining about non-cooperation of officials for the defeat of the party in elections, Mr. Nagender told officials to properly implement government programmes so that the benefits reached the common man. Asifabad MLA Atram Sakku, MLC K. Premsagar Rao, Collector Ahmad Nadeem, ITDA Project Officer Samuel Anand Kumar and others attended a review meeting chaired by the Minister. DCC president C. Ramchander Reddy and a host of Congress leaders attended the party meeting.
