NIZAMABAD: The Principal and students of Sankary Junior College here urged Collector K. Sunitha to take necessary steps to stop the ‘negative propaganda’ allegedly carried against the institution to enable them concentrate on their studies and plan their future. ‘Safe and secure’In a memorandum submitted to Ms. Sunitha and Superintendent of Police M. Jagan Mohan Reddy the students said they were safe and secure at the college and it was unfortunate that such an “inhuman act” had taken place in the college recently. The culprit had been identified and handed over to the authorities. “But, the events which occurred after the incident were highly unfortunate. As such, we along with our management are trying our best to cope with the situation and come out of this shock. On the other hand, the way these incidents were politicised and baseless rumours created disturbed us a lot and affected our studies,” they said in the note. Vested interestsThis clearly shows that people and groups having vested interest had developed a sore eye on the performance of the institution as it stood State first for four consecutive years in Intermediate results. They had done this (creating a state of fear and panic through the media) to defame and blame the institution, said Principal R.C.S. Sastry. They earlier took out a rally from the college located at Borgoan to the Phulong Chowrasta and to the Collectorate. It may be recalled here that an Intermediate First Year (MPC) student, suspected to be suffering from some psychological problem, reportedly attacked two of his classmates with a blade on June 19 and 23 nights causing injuries on their throats. However, the college management after providing treatment sent them back to their homes and rusticated the student. The incident came to the light late with the initiative of the media. Various political parties and student organisations held protest demonstrations demanding action against the college management for ‘hushing up’ the offence.
