KOCHI: The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India will introduce a new certificate course in accounting technician for students who have passed Plus Two. An official release said that the course consists of oral coaching, 60 hours computer training and practical training for six months. The examination will be held twice a year during June and December. Oral coaching classes are offered by aided and private colleges that are recognised by the University Grants Commission. The release said that the course has been designed to equip the candidates in the maintenance of accounts, preparation of income tax/service tax returns, filing of returns under the Companies Act and Income Tax/Value Added Tax/Service Tax/Central Excise/Customs rules. The course has been divided in to two parts that include a foundation course and competency level. It will be launched at a function to be held at St. Albert’s College on July 4.
