CHENNAI: Justice R. Regupathi of the Madras High Court has written to the Registry to place a matter relating to an anticipatory bail plea by a medico and his doctor-father before the Chief Justice for posting before another Judge. When the matter came up before him on Monday, Mr. Justice Regupathi, without naming anyone, said a Union Minister tried to influence him to pass orders favouring the petitioners. The prosecution case was that Dr. Krishnamurthy and his son, Kiruba Shridhar, a student of a private medical college, were wanted in connection with alleged manipulation of answersheet in the ophthalmology examination in the III year MBBS course. The CBI said it had arrested two persons in connection with the case. The doctor and his son were stated to be absconding. When the petitions of the two seeking anticipatory bail came up before the Judge, he said that he was not inclined to grant bail. Upon this, counsel made a remark. This provoked the Judge and he sought an apology. Counsel tendered his apology. Later, the Judge wrote to the Registry to place the matter before the Chief Justice for posting before another Bench.
