A divine relationship
There are some who view Doctors as God. Then there are those who hold the view that these are individuals or corporate engaged in profitable business pursuits. My view is that neither of the two is true in the absolute sense. Doctors are fallible human beings and have aspirations like others. However what makes them distinct and sets them apart is the special bond a Doctor shares with the patient which is close to a divine relationship. As Trauma Care Surgeons, we always f
ind a very strong trust from the patients’ kith and kin; this facilitate us make the best decisions in most difficult situations. After an accident, it is always best to advise the patient’s relatives how bad the injury is. In some occasions Doctors have only few minutes to help the patients revive or make him/her survive. Quick decisions from the patient’s kith and kin in such case are crucial for the patient’s survival. On the occasion of Doctor’s Day, it is worth pondering over these issues and work towards and nurture this wonderful divine relationship!
