Man held for robbery
A suspect who sneaked into a house and robbed a woman of her eight-sovereign jewellery at knife-point in Anna Nagar on June 18 was arrested on Tuesday. Police said that an unidentified man gained entry into the house of Chellakannu (44), Assistant Section Officer in the Home Department, in AH Block, Anna Nagar, and demanded Rs.55,000 as he had health problems.
When the victim said that she had no money, he forced her to part with her jewellery. A special team arrested the accused, Mani (32) of Karaikudi, who confessed to having committed the crime.
