Chain snatched

TAMBARAM: A 70-year-old woman was relieved of a gold chain by two men in Nanganallur on Monday evening.

Pazhavanthangal police said, Gomathy, a resident of Nanganallur, had gone to a temple near her house. While she was returning home, two men riding a motorcycle pushed her down, snatched her gold chain and fled. The woman realised that her chain weighing seven sovereigns was missing, only after returning home.

Body recovered

The body of a 50-year-old man was recovered under a minor bridge on Velachery Main Road at Pallikaranai on Tuesday. Pallikaranai police, who are investigating, said Selvaraj belonged to New Perungalathur and was working as a launderer at a gents hostel in Pallikaranai.

Police said he was missing since Sunday and his decomposed body was noticed by residents of Pallikaranai on Tuesday evening. Investigations revealed that he fell from the bridge sustaining serious injuries on his head and neck. He is reported to have been under the influence of alcohol, when the incident had taken place, police added.
