MUMBAI: Former India internationals M.M. Somaiyya, Joaquim Carvalho, Puran Singh Mann, hockey umpires Peter Menezes, Ranjit Dalvi and umpire/administrator P.S. Sujlana were part of the winning group in the Mumbai Hockey Association elections on Monday. The elections were due in 2007 but were not held, forcing Sujlana and Dalvi to move the Mumbai City civil court on the matter. Gurbax Singh Grewal, another ex-international, who polled 69 votes against the 120 by current incumbent Kehar Singh in the contest for the secretary’s post, questioned the verdict after 116 votes for secretary were declared invalid. Former international and coach Mir Ranjan Negi, current India juniors’ assistant coach Clarence Lobo, contesting for managing committee places from Kehar’s panel, lost. The winners: President: Mangha Singh Bakshi; Vice-presidents: Gulabrao Pol, P.S. Sujlana; Secretary: Kehar Singh; Treasurer: B.G. Chokhani. Managing Committee: M.M. Somaiyya, Joaquim Carvalho, Puran Singh Mann, Peter Menezes, Ranjit Dalvi, Gurdip Singh Chandok, M.P. Agarwal, Bal Malkit Singh and Ramsingh Rathod. — Special Correspondent
