Harshavardhan shines

HYDERABAD: Good bowling by Harshavardhan (five for 60) helped Marredpally Colts restrict Deccan Chronicle to 263 on the first day of the A-Division (three-day) league cricket championship match here on Tuesday.

Camp for the under-privileged

The Hyderabad Cricket Association will conduct a coaching camp for under-privileged children below 19 years at Gymkhana Grounds and the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium (Uppal) from July 10. The camp will be open all through the year in the mornings and evenings. Those interested may contact the HCA office.

The HCA also announced that the A-Institution and the B-Division schools league championship will commence on July 4 and July 5 respectively at Parade Grounds. Participating teams may collect draw copies from the HCA office and also register their players and obtain the identity cards at Gymkhana Grounds.

APOA gesture to Saina

Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association president Lagadapati Rajagopal announced a cash incentive of Rs. 1 lakh for Saina Nehwal who won the women’s singles title in the Indonesian Open Super Series badminton championship last week, according to K. Jagadishwar Yadav, APOA secretary. The cheque will be presented at a function to be organised by the APOA in honour of the champion shuttler on Wednesday evening.

Asian sports conference

The Indian Federation of Computer Science in Sports, in association with the International Association of Computer Science in Sports, will conduct the Asian Conference on physical education and computer science in sports at Prof. G. Ram Reddy Centre for Distance Education, Osmania University, Hyderabad from December 11 to 13 this year.

Mustafa nets winner

City College Old Boys XI recorded a 1-0 win over Kannan XI in the Sachdev Sports Cup veterans’ football tournament organised by Shastri Soccer Club at Trimulgherry Village Grounds here.

The match-winner came in the first-half through Mehmood Mustafa’s header off a cross from Raj Kumar.
