HYDERABAD: The State unit of Bank Employees’ Federation and Andhra Pradesh Regional Rural Banks Employees’ Association condemned the assault by Manda Jagannath, Congress MP, on Ravinder Reddy, Manager, Uppunuthala branch of Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank, in Mahabubnagar, on Monday. V. Venkata Ramayya, deputy general secretary, in a statement here on Tuesday demanded the government’s intervention before the issue becomes serious and take action against the MP, who, he alleged, used ‘official power’ while ‘displaying feudal attitude’. S. Venkateswar Reddy, general secretary of the association, while describing the assault as a ‘dastardly act’, said the staff in rural branches were wearing black badges, staging demonstrations before the district offices and submitting representations to the Collectors demanding safety to the employees. He also demanded intervention of the Prime Minister, the Lok Sabha Speaker and the Chief Minister for rendering justice. He said the agitation would be intensified and the staff would boycott government schemes and meetings till the MP expressed regret for his action.
