Sri Lankan boat seized

CHENNAI: Indian Coast Guard ship Habbah Khatun, in coordination with a Coast Guard Dornier aircraft, apprehended a Sri Lankan fishing boat with seven crew members on Monday and escorted it to the Chennai harbour on Tuesday.

The Coast Guard said that the boat was found fishing illegally in the Indian waters about 95 nautical miles east of Krishnapatnam. When apprehended, the boat had 2,000 kg of fish. The seized boat was handed over to the Kasimedu Fishing Harbour police.
